Keeping Score and Personal Accountability

I had not planned to mention this in this post and it is good advice. DO NOT get too hung up on the numbers all the time. Here is a picture of my dad and I when I about age 10 when I was caddying for him. The other picture is of me and my son Davis at age 11 when I was caddying for him at the US Kids World Championship at Pinehurst. He was a truly amazing player at that age. Davis would call Papa (my dad) after he played and my dad did something very unique. He never asked what score his shot.

He would say Davis, “Tell me about three of your GREAT SHOTS.”

Golf can be a cruel game. Too often you tend to focus on the score and where you made bad mistakes. Keeping your memory banks focused on your great shots is a smarter move for the future. You will need to pull them up vividly in your mind when facing adversity in the future. When I play today, I always track on the scorecard my score, if I hit quality tee shot, if I hit the green in regulation, my number of putts and MY GREAT SHOTS!

Celebrating My Mother, Not an Ordinary Obituary

Dianne Eichelberger, wife of Frank “Hardrock” Eichelberger, gardener, chef, pianist and accomplished traveler died on December 2, 2016. Periodically they would call to ask a puzzle question on more “recent” culture questions.

Live with High Energy Every Day

People who are consistently switched on have specific routines they execute. Mike Jagger is 73 and still am amazing live performer in many ways. On stage and he just announced he is going to be a father again with child number 8. If you look at him on stage at 19, that is 54 YEARS AGO and today, he has not lost a step! I watched a documentary of the Rolling Stones on tour. They set up a unique dressing room for Mick, Keith and Ron and the one key stipulation for Mick is a 40 meter stretch that he has access to. He runs wind sprints BEFORE it is showtime.

How to Make this Summer Count!

Hopefully you will live to experience at least 80 summers. Personally I am going for 100! How old are you now? I am 55. Using 80 as the number of summers that leaves me just 25 more to experience. Yikes. It is so easy to keep busy and not plan some special activities. It can be simple activities like floating a river, having a picnic, taking a hike, going to a play or concert, borrow or rent a boat for the day on a local lake, visiting a state park for a quick camping adventure. The possibilities are endless.
