The leading cause of death in America isn’t cancer, stroke, diabetes or heart disease.

It’s the unhealthy lifestyle to which many Americans are addicted.

A Michigan State University study found that only 3% of Americans are making healthy lifestyle choices.

The study found that there are four factors that play a role in your health:
Not smoking.
Maintain a healthy weight range for your body-type.
7-9 servings of fruits and vegetables every day.
Exercising at least 5 days/week for a minimum of 30 minutes.

The problem lies in how easy it is to NOT take these simple steps.

But you can become a 3%-er by putting on the hat of responsibility.

Maybe you’ve made some bad choices in the past. That’s okay. Take responsibility now. Step up and make new choices.

Here are some practical tips that will help you say “no” to the bad and “heck yes” to the good:
Take a cooler with you into the office and keep it with you in the car to always have a healthy option on hand.
Eat a big salad and a smaller entree for your meals.
Use dark green lettuce, spinach, or kale instead of iceberg lettuce.

Taking small steps can have a huge impact on your life expectancy.

For people over 50, it’s even more important to put yourself among the 3%ers.

Remember, it’s never too late to start making healthy lifestyle choices.
